Practicing uploading You Tube video

Ok...I was at a loss of what to pick, but you have to admit that this one is fun!

Originality...

It is probably not my strong suit. I like to read a lot about other people and what they are doing. If we are discussing a topic, I would probably recommend a couple of writers that I like regarding that topic, preferably with each having opposing viewpoints.

Today I was cruising through my blog reads and found that Dan Kimball over at Vintage Faith had a new post on what it is like to visit your own church. To read, click here. I loved the fact that the church meets in a regular "church" building, but they are rearranging it for a more useful, community-friendly atmosphere. I was also drawn to the fact that the people are not sitting in pews waiting to receive communion, but they are going to the cross. There are so many analogies that could be made from that by better people than me, but I thought that in itself was very profound. I would like to see our congregation do something similar.

The holidays are over. Life has fallen back in its groove. The kids have started schoolwork, and we are back on our reasonably regular schedule. I am looking forward to studying Daniel via Beth Moore at our Bible study on Thursday nights. One of these days I am going to learn how to get really creative with this blog and post You Tube videos and such!

Meandering through the day...

It is a beautiful Saturday morning (ahem, afternoon), and I'm easing into the day. I came across something that I thought was funny, and I will go ahead and post it here: 12 Days of Calvinism. (At first glance, my son thought it was about Calvin and Hobbes:)

I've been playing around with our church's web site: http://www.arcobaptist.com

It's 12:53 in the afternoon and I am still in my jammies. Maybe I should get moving?

Morning Star

Ok, as you have probably guess by now, my mind works a little on the offbeat side. Let me preface the rest of this by saying we have really been playing Rock Band quite a lot, and so I have a number of the songs stuck in my head, trying to perfect my drumming abilities (so-called:)

I really love drumming to "Highway Star" by Deep Purple. I have had the lyrics and melody playing over and over in my head now. Then it occurred to me. How about a Christian knock-off of "Highway Star" called Morning Star? Apologetix has done this quite well with a number of songs, but they have not done this one.

"I love Him! I need Him! I see Him! He's my Savior and Lord!
Alright...He'll hold tight. He's the Morning Staaaarrrrrrrr!

Hmmm, so what do you think?

Happiness...

I drove in to town this morning to pick up my eldest son after an all-nighter with the church youth group. The sun was thinking about shining bright, but it had a sleepy feel to it. The ground was covered with snow and what little light was coming through reflected off of it. I was listening to a mix CD from my sister-in-law Mary Kay and realized that I am truly content and happy. I feel as if I am walking in this cocoon of peace and joy, almost in this childlike wonder of life itself.

Happy 2009!

BTW: The Mix CD is great:
